FIX : apt-get not working in Kali Linux 2018.1

So, you are on fresh Kali Linux 2018.1 OS, and you tried running apt-get update & apt-get upgrade. But you are facing issues. Here is the solution.

  • open terminal and type : leafpad /etc/apt/sources.list ( and press enter as shown in image below)

  • Sources.List will open. Remove everything written in that sources.list, and add following as shown in image below, and save it :

deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free



  • Now, finally run : apt-get update then apt-get upgrade. (as shown in image below)



  • Enjoy !!!

  2. Nice. Worked for me in 2019 also. This fix to kali linux apt-get update and upgrade not working solved easily.
